Can a Harley Go a Million Miles? If anyone has a shot at a million miles on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, it's Miles Squire of Las Vegas. Squires — dubbed "Mr. Miles" by "Willy G" Davidson himself — has more than 700,000 miles on his 1994 Harley-Davidson UltraClassic. And it's still going strong. He and friend Terry Butcher of Cape Canaveral, Fla., have racked up 23,000 miles in the past 14 weeks alone. Their journey took them to the Sturgis motorcycle rally this week. Butcher bought his Harley about the same time, 11 years ago, but his odometer is only up to about 147,000. Miles, who has never owned a car in his life, described himself alternately as "retired" or as a full-time rider.You don't ride more than 60,000 miles a year by accident. Squires' formula: "Don't buy a house. Don't go to weddings. Don't subscribe to magazines. Put everything you have into gas and oil and riding around." By Bill Harlan, Rapid City Journal Staff Writer
